Ski le Gap

Established in 1994, Ski le Gap is the Original Ski/Snowboard Instructor Training programme. Based in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Ski le Gap has helped over 2000 Gap Year students realise their potential and qualify as Ski and Snowboard Instructors.

Ski le Gap runs two comprehensive programmes; ‘Intensive Training’ (1 month) and ‘Ultimate Experience’ (3 months).  These programmes offer internationally recognised qualifications from the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA) and Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI) with Ski le Gap boasting an unrivalled 100% pass rate for Level 1 qualifications.  Credit for this goes to our ‘Dream Team’ of Instructors who work exclusively for Ski le Gap and are equipped with an immense amount of qualifications and medals themselves – many being either Level 4 Instructors or Level 4 examiners (able to train Level 4 instructors) as well as having represented Canada for Interski.  We use high-tech video analysis and have a maximum of 8 students in each class with the ability to change groups weekly, ensuring you are always in a group that best suits your abilities so you can progress at your own pace.  Each of the Instructors also takes on the responsibility of mentoring a small group of students (who remain in the same ‘Mentor Group’ for the entire season) providing that extra support and guidance and helping every student feel a part of a closely-knit group.  Mentor nights add to the already action-packed calendar of activities offered.

The all-inclusive nature of Ski le Gap is fundamental to the experience.  All our ‘Gappers’ live in Ski le Gap’s fantastic lodge, where we have all the facilities needed on site.  These include our own restaurant, bar, big-screen TV room and computer stations with free high-speed internet access (as well as free wifi access in the residence and restaurant) and an in-house residential team.  All meals are included for both of our courses with all-you-can-eat breakfasts and dinners and a large packed lunch during the week with the added treat of home-made cookies for a rewarding après-ski snack and then all-you-can-eat brunch and dinner for the weekends all from our excellent on-site chefs.

In addition to numerous evening and weekend activities at the Lodge itself (such as an Ice-Hockey league, bonfires, parties, pool tournaments and much more), our Ultimate Experience Gappers are treated to weekend trips to Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City, as well as an outward bound weekend. Through these included trips, our Gappers get to experience the Canadian culture and take part in activities such as Ottawa’s winter carnival, tubing at North America’s largest winter park, watching a live Montreal hockey game and much more. 

Ultimate Experience

Ski le Gap’s Ultimate Experience is exactly that!  Between 100 and 150 students live, train and play together for three months.  Students are coached in small groups by our Dream Team of Instructors and exams are taken at the student’s own pace.  After achieving their Level I CSIA or CASI qualification, Gappers can choose whichever path suits them best.  We offer CSIA 1, CSIA 2, CSIA 3, Park & Pipe Certification, CSCF 1 (Race-Coaching), CADS (Canadian Association of Disabled Skiers),  CASI 1, CASI 2, Basic Coach Level 1 as well as Snow Patrol-Mountain First Response courses!  Want to train as a Ski and Snowboard Instructor?  No Problem!  We also offer a ‘Crossover’ course to enable you to gain both CSIA and CASI qualifications!

Intensive Training

Ski le Gap’s 1 month Intensive Training programme is for those with some skiing / snowboarding experience who want to get their ski instructing career off to a flying start.  Beginning in late November, Intensive Training sees students qualify as instructors before Christmas so they can work for the rest of the season.  Our in-house residence team will provide plenty of support and guidance for the many students who stay on in Tremblant and work for the local Snow School, where qualified Gappers are guaranteed an interview.
